Millie

My mother-in-law MIllie Silverstein died this morning at the old age home Nofei Hasharon in Netanya.  She was 101 years old and she had lived a very long and full life. Unfortunately, in her final years she was senile and had lost most of her faculties. Everyone who knew her knew that she was a storng character, full of energy and very blunt.  Although we had a difficult realtionship in our early years, she finally mellowed and it was my duty and responsibility to take care of her in her final years.

The funeral will be at the Cemetery in Netanya at 2 pm tomorrow, Thurs.  Her daughter and her children from England should arrive early in the morning to attend.  If anyone lives in Netanya who wants to come please do so.  We will sit shiva in our home at 3 Carlebach St., apt. 5, Netanya, during daylight hours.  Baruch dayan emet!

  1. Dear Jack, Naomi and family,
My heart is sore for you all. Millie was a force of nature that I was able to enjoy and appreciate for the last few years. She was funny, feisty and fun even at 101. It has been a joy to see and be with her each week, when I visited her with Naomi. It is the end of an era for a woman who received a birthday card from Queen Elizabeth on her 100 birthday, and lived a few lives in various places with real gusto. Now we hope she will be dancing with all the other angels, and that she will smile at us mere mortals with her wonderful smile once in a while.
.המקום ינחם אותם בתוך שאר אבלי ציון וירושלים/ May Millie’s neshama have an easy aliyah. May her memory be for a blessing and may Hashem grant all the members of the family comfort among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
    Love,
    Raymond and Rachel Lunz

  2. Even at the wonderful age of 101 it is sad news.

Please give our love and condolences to Naomi, Barbara and the entire family.

You deserve great credit for the way you have handled the situation. You did what you needed to do with great love, tenderness and a good heart.
