The Paris attacks

The coordinated attacks by Islamic terrorists in Paris on Friday that killed 130 people and wounded 400 in six different sites mark a significant escalation of the war that is going on between the West and Islamism.  Pres. Hollande, after ordering massive increases in security and other legal measures such as stop and search, stated that the French reaction will be “ruthless.”  I wonder why when Israel reacts against such terrorist attacks (we had many in the past) we were told to be restrained (“both sides should exercise restraint” is the usual advice from Western leaders).  But, now is not the time to make points, we wholeheartedly support the French in their war against Islamic terrorism.

It is likely that these terrorists were from the Islamic State (IS) group, which is being pounded from the air by Allied forces, including US, UK and French, as well as several Arab States, including Saudi Arabia and Jordan.   Why are these Sunni States fighting the IS?  Because they know that if IS ever gets the chance they will violently attack all so-called “moderate” or westernized Muslim States, in order to replace them with the extremist, fundamentalist version of Islam that they advocate and replace their leaders with the so-called Caliph.  IS is also opposed by Shia Iran and its allies, Syria, Hizbollah that in their eyes are heretics, and by their ally Russia.  So in the final analysis, IS have no allies, they are alone, and will now find themselves fighting the overwhelming power of the West.  That is except for the timidity and lack of coherent policies of the Obama Administration.  No doubt Obama will declare his sympathy for the French in their time of suffering, but he will find an excuse, a justification to avoid actually doing anything about it.

Possible reasons for the attacks in Paris is that the IS has established a firm foothold among the huge Muslim population in Paris.  And now that they are on the defensive in Syria and Iraq, having just lost the town of Sinjar to Kurdish forces and also losing ground to Syrian forces, they need to demonstrate that they are taking the fight to the far enemy.  They certainly managed to do that, and the French security forces, that are supposedly still on high alert after the Charlie Hebdo massacres, were obviously completely incapable to prevent such wide-spread and major attacks.  Once again Muslim gunmen were able to roam the streets of Paris shooting people at random without any challenge.  They were obviously part of a large, undetected, well armed and well trained network.  Above all this is a failure of French intelligence (maybe they should seek advice from the Israeli Shin Bet).

It is an irony that while Islamic extremists are attacking western civilization in Paris and elsewhere, hundred of thousands of Muslims are seeking haven in Europe from the carnage that is going on in Syria, Iraq, Libya and elsewhere. They want to export their culture and their way of life to Europe.  Certainly there will be many among the migrants who want no more than a peaceful life, but among them you can be sure is a minority (maybe 10%) that want to expand the realm of Islam to take over Europe, to enforce sharia law and join with their brethren in the Middle East to form the great Caliphate.   When they find that there is little work for them as unqualified workers, not enough welfare and too much restrictions, they will turn to violence and the terrorist attacks will only escalate.  Is this what the liberals of Europe want to import?  Think again.

  1. Dear Jack:
Please expand upon this claim — “Certainly there will be many among the migrants who want no more than a peaceful life, but among them you can be sure is a minority (maybe 10%) that want to expand the realm of Islam to take over Europe, to enforce sharia law and join with their brethren in the Middle East to form the great Caliphate.” — that perhaps 10% of the Syrian/Arab asylum seekers (if there are going to be about 800K asylum seekers… as mentioned in a recent article in Wikipedia… you are talking about 80K migrants) looking to expand the Caliphate.

Where is your evidence to make this claim? Whose data are you quoting? So far, and is by no means a scientific sampling, they have found exactly one migrant involved in nefarious deeds.
Either there are data to support these claims you are making, or I think you need to get your facts straight here before publishing such incendiary claims…

    • Even if I am wrong and let’s say its a low figure of 1%, since there will be more than 1 million refugees estimated this year, then that makes 10,000 people. I assure you you cannot find a believing Muslim who does not want to live in a Muslim State with Sharia Law where all infidels are converted to Islam (or killed). If you can find one let me know.
